This site was created to provide information about important political and governmental issues in our Coeur d'Alene, Idaho community. Here you will find the archive of my weekly column, The City's Pulse, from our local paper, The Coeur d'Alene Press, as well as the email newsletter I am currently publishing.  If you would like to receive The City's Pulse Newsletter, (it's free) please register here:

As a 20 year resident of Coeur d'Alene, local business owner, and former Planning and Zoning Commissioner, I have some knowledge of how our city's government works. In addition, my husband and I raised our four children in this great town. All four attended local public schools, played on sports teams, were involved in school activities and are now doing very well in their life pursuits.  As parents, we were actively involved in the schools, giving of our time and talents, serving on committees for many years and supporting quality education whenever possible.

I tell you this to underscore my status as a regular, everyday citizen of our community, concerned about the future of our town and asking the questions that many others are also wondering. The famous anthropologist, Margaret Mead, who studied cultures and civilizations all over the world, said this: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has. "

Though many people approach me with concerns or send me information in confidence, all the opinions expressed in The City's Pulse are my own.
